The In Context web site is populated with a comprehensive stock of real patients medical case notes drawn from Medical/Surgical, Paediatrics, Learning Disability and Mental Health facilities in two UK NHS Trusts. The entire stock of case notes can be searched using the free text search facility for the location of key words. Verbatim transcription of key care records and their mapping against QAA Benchmark Statements provides a rich resource for educators to draw from. Such a resource can facilitate and support student learning in many ways including providing authentic problems to act as triggers for Problem Based Learning. Many of the case files are expressed through Penfield Virtual Hospital as it provides a service delivery context in which the case files can be explored.
